Reflecting For a New Year

This last year has been one of the most memorable years many of us has ever lived through, or might ever life through. While it is easy to look at the negative and just gladly count down the seconds for the next year, may we not forget this year or the lessons it taught us. May we bring into the next year our hearts on fire for justice, our awareness of the importance of loved ones, the value of quality time and physical presence, and may we bring with us the ever-present awareness of the faithfulness and goodness of God.

We asked our UnBlemished family what some of their favorite scriptures and worship songs were this year and below is a compilation of these answers. I pray in the next day or two you can reflect and ponder where the Lord challenged you, grew you, showed up for you, or just held you. We are excited to see where the Lord continues to take UnBlemished in this next year. Happy New Year!

Psalm 48:10

I have refined you, but not as silver is refinedRather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering.

Psalm 63

O God, you are my God;
    I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
    my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
    where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary
    and gazed upon your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
    how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
    lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
    I will praise you with songs of joy.

I lie awake thinking of you,
    meditating on you through the night.
Because you are my helper,
    I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
    your strong right hand holds me securely.

But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin.
    They will go down into the depths of the earth.
10 They will die by the sword
    and become the food of jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God.
    All who swear to tell the truth will praise him,
    while liars will be silenced.
